How to Convert Your Car to Evans Waterless Engine Coolant

Posted on

Our cars, Jeeps, powersports vehicles and heavy machinery represent a lot of pride and joy, and at Evans, we think things that bring us so much satisfaction deserve the best treatment possible. When it comes to engines, that means waterless coolant.

We receive a wide range of questions regarding our waterless engine coolants, including how they work, how to convert a vehicle to waterless coolant, and the benefits of using waterless coolant in a cooling system. Here are a few of our most common.

What are the differences between Evans Waterless Engine Coolants and traditional engine coolants?

No water! Obvious, right? We’re frequently asked how our formula differs from other liquid coolant products, and it’s really just as simple it sounds. The one factor that every other coolant on the market shares is having water as a key ingredient. By going waterless, you’re opening up a world of benefits for your vehicle. Water corrodes, conducts electricity, and expands when it freezes. It also carries a low boiling point that is very close to the standard operating temperature of an engine, making overheating a possibility.

How do I drain my engine cooling system?

Fear not! The process is actually much simpler than it sounds. Although you will want to remove all water from the system before converting to our waterless coolant liquid, we’ve done our best to break it down into just a few easy steps.

  1. Begin with a cool engine.
  2. Open all the drain plugs to remove the current coolant.
  3. Insert drain plugs and pour in Evans Prep Fluid. This will remove any remaining water from the system.
  4. Run the engine to temperature for about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Once again remove the plugs and drain the system of prep fluid.

Do I fill the entire system with Evans Waterless Engine Coolant?

Yes. Consult your owner’s manual to determine how much coolant you will need for your specific vehicle.

How often do I need to replace Evans coolant?

Good news! Evans Waterless Engine Coolant lasts the lifetime of your engine. Not only is your vehicle benefiting from this conversion, so is your wallet! As long as your system does not get contaminated, this will be the last time you have to fill up with coolant liquid.

Can I mix your waterless antifreeze with other coolants and additives?

Evans is designed to be poured straight, no additives necessary. In an emergency situation, water or other types of antifreeze can be added in order to get you to a service center without causing damage to your engine. However, you will want to have it fixed as soon as possible before you lose the anti-corrosion and other benefits of Evans Waterless Engine Coolant.

Will Evans Waterless Engine Coolant freeze?

No freezing here! Evans protects down to -40ºF. In temperatures below that, it will just become slushy until warmer temperatures are reached. You can officially say goodbye to freeze bursts!

When deciding if waterless coolant liquid is the best coolant for your car, it’s important to remember that each style of vehicle will receive varying benefits from this product. Whether you’re headed off-road in the Jeep, putting the pedal to the metal in your hot rod or muscle car, or preserving your classic car from corrosion, our team has a solution to meet your system’s needs.
